Creamy Coleslaw from Miss in the Kitchen

My good friend Barb of Creative Culinary came up with this wonderful little group of bloggers to have a Progressive Dinner – like a virtual get together every month.  I was thrilled to be included.  This month’s dinner theme is Summer in the South and is being hosted by Lana of Never Enough Thyme - which is one of my very favorite blogs for down home southern cooking!  Check out this fabulous menu and I bet you will be inspired for your own get together.

Creamy Coleslaw RecipeLately I’ve been loving this Creamy Coleslaw recipe that I adapted from Bobby Flay.  I love the thick creamy dressing and it has the best balance of tangy and sweet.  I serve slaw with just about everything I make, barbecue, fried fish, fried chicken, burgers, well you get the picture.  I thought it was the perfect addition to this month’s Progressive Dinner.

I’m a little bit aghast at friends who only think to pick up a container of coleslaw at a deli counter. The difference in a slaw made fresh at home is huge and I can imagine how a bit of sour cream steps it up even more. Sounds perfect for summer dinners.

Thanks for joining us Milisa…so glad you’re a part of the Progressive Eats crew!

There’s nothing like the perfect coleslaw! I bet this would be great on some shredded beef/pork sandwiches.

It’s really hard to beat a good, creamy coleslaw. There’s often a container of it in my fridge during the summer months. A great salad for our fun progressive dinner!
