We are ready to kick off our official summer this week! School’s out for summer on Thursday and we have the pool ready to go. Summer fun for us is hosting family cookouts and pool parties. These Loaded Slaw Dogs are a surefire hit with the crowd!

How to Make Loaded Slaw Dogs:

Slaw Dogs are topped with coleslaw and are so scrumptious! Grill hot dogs and top with shredded cheese, crispy bacon, creamy coleslaw and candied jalapeños if you like them a little spicy.

How to Grill Hot Dogs:

  1. Prepare grill to 300° – 350°. Keep a close eye on the hot dogs, rolling frequently over the grate to cook evenly and keep them from burning. 
  2. Hot dogs will start to expand when they are done. Move away from direct heat until ready to serve or to a serving platter and cover with foil.

Grilled hot dogs are the perfect summer time fare and the sky is the limit when it comes to toppings. I am not sure why it took us so long to realize how amazing coleslaw is on a grilled hot dog. It’s seriously delicious.

Toppings for Slaw Dogs:

Creamy Coleslaw is my favorite for slaw dogs and makes a great side dish for any summer meal.

Smoked Cheddar Cheese adds another smoky layer of flavor to grilled hot dogs. 

Crispy Bacon is also a favorite, you know bacon makes everything better and you have to try out these steps for How to Cook Bacon! It’s life changing.

White Barbecue Sauce adds a tangy zip to these hot dogs. I know most folks stick to mustard and ketchup but trust me, this outside of the box topping is a winner!

Candied Jalapeños add a spicy kick to these slaw dogs. Optional of course but I like to add a few. I am sure you can find them in the grocery store, but I’ve made Candied Jalapeños from Foodie with Family, many times

Loaded Slaw Dogs are a great addition to your summer cook out menus! Grilled hot dogs topped with smoked cheddar, bacon, creamy coleslaw and candied jalapeños for the ultimate summer hot dog!

Cook Time 20 minutes
Total Time 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 8 Petit Jean Jumbo Grillers hot dogs
  • 8 hot dog buns
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 slices cooked and crumbled bacon
  • 1 cup creamy coleslaw
  • 1/2 cup white barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup candied jalapenos

Instructions

  1. Prepare grill to 300° - 350°.
  2. Place hot dogs on grill. Roll frequently over the grate to cook evenly and keep them from burning.
  3. When hot dogs start to expand and sizzle, they are done.
  4. Remove from direct heat until ready to serve or to a foil covered dish.
  5. Place hot dogs in buns and top with shredded cheese, crispy bacon, creamy coleslaw and candied jalapeños.
