Why Make Homemade Salad Dressing?

  • By mixing up your own salad dressing you can get the exact flavor that you love. It’s easy to add your favorite herbs and spices and skip the ones you don’t like.
  • Avoid sugar and salt if you are on a restricted diet.
  • Italian dressing is great topping salads and pasta and also makes a flavorful marinade for grilling.

Ingredients for Italian Salad Dressing

  • Olive Oil is the base of the dressing.
  • Red Wine Vinegar adds a tangy, acidic flavor. White Wine Vinegar works well too if that is what you have on hand.
  • Lemon Juice adds freshness and acidity.
  • Honey balances out the tartness from the vinegar and lemon juice.
  • Dijon Mustard adds flavor and helps bind the dressing so that it doesn’t separate.
  • Granulated Garlic, Dried Basil, Dried Oregano and Dried Thyme for that classic Italian flavor.
  • Kosher Salt and Fresh Ground Pepper to enhance the flavors.
