Ingredients for chocolate covered strawberries.

Ingredients Needed

  • Fresh Strawberries ~ Frozen strawberries will not work for this recipe because of the moisture content.
  • Chocolate ~ For this recipe we are using semi-sweet chocolate chips. Bittersweet baking chocolate works well too if you have it.
  • Heavy Whipping Cream ~ Melts with the chocolate to create a delicious ganache coating.
  • Dark Spiced Rum ~ Optional flavor addition, it can be skipped if you are making these for the kids.
  • White Chocolate ~ We are using white chocolate chips, any white baking chocolate will work. It’s optional for white chocolate drizzle that just makes the strawberries a little prettier.

Step By Step Directions

Strawberries in a bowl with ice water / strawberries in a bowl.

STEP 1 Wash the strawberries well. Place in a bowl and cover with ice water for about 5 minutes. This will crisp up the strawberries. Drain really well and dry with a tea towel, paper towel or air dry completely.

TIP: Strawberries must be completely dry or the chocolate will not stick!
