Reindeer Chow is the Christmas version of Muddy Buddies. Crispix cereal coated in melted chocolate and peanut butter and tossed with powdered sugar. Red and Green M&M candies makes it a festive holiday treat.
Muddy Buddies or Puppy Chow as some folks say, is one of the quickest and easiest treats to make and everyone loves it. We are adding it to our holiday treat baskets this year along with our Christmas White Trash, Creamsicle Fudge and Candied Pretzels.
Reindeer Chow ~ Christmas Muddy Buddies
Chocolate and peanut butter is an all-time favorite dessert combination and makes this Christmas snack mix an instant favorite. It comes together in about 15 minutes and makes a really cute gift for the holidays.
Ingredients Needed:
- Crispix Cereal
- Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
- Peanut Butter
- Powdered Sugar
- M&M's Candies
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Measure cereal and pour into a large bowl and set aside.
- Add chocolate chips and peanut butter to a saucepan and cook over low heat.
- Stir constantly until all melted.
- Pour chocolate mixture over cereal.
- Stir until cereal is completely coated.
- Add half of powdered sugar to a gallon size baggie.
- Add cereal to the baggie and add the rest of the powdered sugar.
- Seal the bag and turn over and over until the cereal is coated in powdered sugar.
- Pour onto a large rimmed baking sheet and spread to a single layer.
- Cool to room temperature about 30 minutes.
- Add m&ms candies and place in an airtight container or zip top baggie.

- Yield: 20 servings
- Storage: Store in an airtight container at room temperature up to 3 days or in the refrigerator up to 7 days. Freeze for up to 3 months.
- Peanut Butter: I used chunky but smooth works just as well. If you prefer other nut butters, that works too.
- Chocolate: I used semi-sweet chocolate chips, milk chocolate or dark chocolate are also great options.
- Cereal: I used Crispix because it has corn and rice in one box. You can also use Rice Chex and Corn Chex if that is what you have.
- Other Add-Ins: Mini peanut butter cups, chocolate chips, chocolate covered raisins, and pretzels are delicious added into the mix.
- Occasions: Perfect for Christmas with red and green candies or switch them out for other holiday colors. Makes a great hostess or teacher gift any time of year.
