- Onion: Adds savory flavor as it cooks down with the potatoes and sausage.
- Cream of Chicken Soup: Creates the creamy base for the casserole.
- Sour Cream: Makes the potatoes extra creamy and adds just a little tanginess.
- Chicken Bouillon: Boosts the savory flavor throughout the casserole.
- Granulated Garlic: An easy way to add plenty of garlic flavor without extra prep.

What to Serve with Smoked Sausage Hashbrown Casserole
- Since this casserole already has potatoes, sausage and cheese, I like to keep the sides simple. Serve it with fried okra, a simple garden salad or glazed carrots.
- Cornbread or cheddar bay biscuits are always a good addition if you’re feeding a hungry crowd.
Can You Make Smoked Sausage Hashbrown Casserole Ahead?
Yes. You can slice the sausage and onion and mix together with the creamy sauce ahead of time. Store everything covered in the refrigerator, then assemble with the hashbrowns and cheese when you’re ready to start the slow cooker.
How to Store and Reheat
- Store leftover smoked sausage hashbrown casserole in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 to 4 days.
