Air Fryer Tater Tots are super crispy and delicious and even tastier than the drive in tater tots that we all know and love, just made a little healthier without all of the extra deep frying oil.
Y'all know I love my deep fried shrimp, fried pickles and chicken fried steak sandwiches. That crunchy goodness that comes from deep frying is so easy to achieve in the air fryer and makes these tater tots are my new favorite side dish.
Ingredients for Air Fryer Tater Tots:
- Frozen Tater Tots
- Olive Oil
- Kosher Salt
How to Cook Frozen Tater Tots in Air Fryer:
- Place frozen tater tots in a single layer in the basket of the air fryer. Do not over crowd, mine held 4 cups.
- Spray or lightly brush with olive oil.
- Sprinkle with salt.
- Cook in the air fryer at 400°.
- Shake the basket or use a spatula to flip the tater tots every five minutes. This will help them get crispy on all sides.
- Cook for a total of 15 minutes.
- Serve with ketchup or bbq sauce.
How to Cook Frozen Tater Tots in Oven:
Cook tater tots on a baking sheet in a single layer at 425° for 12- 15 minutes. I've made oven fried tater tots for years, using bacon grease as the oil and they are crazy delicious.
How to Store and Reheat:
Leftover tater tots are not usually an issue but they can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheat in air fryer at 350° for about 5 minutes or 350° oven for about 10 minutes.
This tater tot recipe is so simple and it is one of the best things to make in the air fryer. It's a great addition to burgers, fried chicken strips and even breakfast!

RECOMMENDED AIR FRYER & ACCESSORIES:
If you are considering getting an air fryer, I do think they are worth having. My favorite part is how quickly the food cooks without much mess or having to wait on the oven to preheat. Especially for snacks or a quick lunch.
The Cosori Premium 5.8 Quart Air Fryer is what I have and I love it. I received it as a review and we use it practically every day.
This Accessories Kit is my Amazon wish list. It has a cake pan, pizza pan, baking racks, skewers, silicone mat, silicone egg bites mold.
This is the Oil Sprayer that I use in the video. It's perfect for all of my air fryer recipes. It uses less oil than brushing the oil on and is easier to use than the air pump style.
If you love crispy tater tots, you'll love how easy it is to make them at home. Add them to the menu this week and watch them disappear!
