Strawberry Shandy ~ Beer Cocktail

You might be skeptical of beer cocktails, but they are are great for backyard cookouts and casual gatherings with friends. This strawberry shandy gets an extra kick from the vodka and is sure to be one of your favorite party drinks. We also love to make Beer Punch and Red Beer for easy cocktails.

Ingredients Needed:

  • Frozen Strawberries
  • Simple Syrup  ~ Make with equal parts boiling water and sugar. Mix well and chill before using.
  • Lemon Juice
  • Vodka ~ We used Smirnoff, use your favorite.
  • Lager Beer ~ We used Bud Light, use your favorite.

How to Make Strawberry Shandy Cocktails:

  • In a blender add frozen strawberries and simple syrup.
squeezing half a lemon into blender with strawberries.
  • Squeeze half of a lemon over the strawberries.

  • Add vodka.

  • Cover the blender and blend about 1 – 2 minutes until smooth.

  • Pour the strawberry mixture into a pitcher or mason jar.

  • Fill glasses with beer.

  • Pour the strawberry mixture over the back of a spoon slowly over the beer. Don’t over fill, the beer will foam.

  • Serve immediately. The strawberry mixture will float down into the beer creating a refreshing and delicious drink.

  • Yield: 4 Cocktails
  • Simple Syrup Recipe: Mix 1/2 cup boiling water with 1/2 cup sugar. Stir until dissolved. Cool before using. Store in a covered container in the refrigerator up to 2 weeks.Store in a jar in the refrigerator up to 2 weeks.
  • Make Ahead: Make the strawberry mixture ahead and refrigerate in an airtight container or freeze in a zip top bag. 
  • Alcohol Substitutions: Light rum can be substituted for the vodka. 
  • Garnish Ideas: Fresh strawberries, lemon slices, fresh mint.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen strawberries
  • 1/4 cup simple syrup

  • 4 cans light lager beer 12 ounces each, we used Bud Light

Instructions

  • In a blender add frozen strawberries and simple syrup.

  • Add vodka.
  • Cover the blender and blend about 1 - 2 minutes until smooth.
  • Pour the strawberry mixture into a pitcher or mason jar.
