Jalapeño Barbecue Sauce

Making homemade barbecue sauce has been my thing for about 20 years now. You know they say necessity is the mother of invention.

So, running out of barbecue sauce while living in the middle of nowhere, Wyoming might have been one of the best things that ever happened to me.

My barbecue sauce became a staple in our home and then eventually turned into a full time business. It became a full time job.

With three growing boys, a ranch plus another side business, I really didn’t have time for the barbecue sauce business. So I sold my sauce business. After a few years, I really missed it.

How long will homemade barbecue sauce keep?

Keep any leftover barbecue sauce in an airtight container, I like to use a Mason Jar, in the refrigerator. It should keep up to 3 months, but ours never lasts that long.

It would be easy to say we are barbecue fanatics, so much that we have seriously considered opening a barbecue restaurant. For now though, we are pretty happy with the ranch and sharing recipes.

  1. Hi Milisa,
I’m dying to make your Jalapeño BBQ sauce so I’m wondering, can fresh jalapeños be used in place of the pickled? I have so many from my garden I’d love to be able to use them.
    Thank-you, Nicole

  2. Hi Milisa,
I was just wondering if using Organic Brown sugar will work in this or will it change the taste or anything? I have made this with regular brown sugar and absolutely love it but I am out of it and only have Organic.
Thanks for an outstanding BBQ sauce!
