Duck Fat Oven Fries are the ultimate side dish for grilled steaks, burgers or any gourmet dinner. Rustic fries tossed with duck fat to make the most crispy and delicious french fries. 

We collected the delicious duck fat after making a grilled duck a few weeks ago. We used the duck fat to make Duck Fat Ribeye Steaks and fries for a gourmet restaurant meal at home.

Duck Fat Oven Fries ~ Crispy Oven French Fries

Duck fat fries are a restaurant specialty but are made so easily at home. These oven fries are a little healthier and just as delicious. Baked until crispy on the outside and fluffy and delicious on the inside. 

Ingredients Needed:

  • Russet Potatoes
  • Duck Fat ~ reserved from grilled duck or order from Amazon
  • Granulated Garlic
  • Smoked Paprika
  • Kosher Salt
  • Pepper

Step-by-step Instructions for Duck Fat Fries:

  • Scrub potatoes and pat dry. Peel if desired, we like to leave the peel on.

  • Cut into shoestring potatoes, this vegetable chopper makes it super easy.
  • Place shoestring potatoes on a rimmed baking sheet. 
  • Drizzle duck fat over the fries and toss to coat.
  • Mix garlic, smoked paprika, salt and pepper together. Sprinkle over fries. 
  • Toss to coat. Spread fries in a single layer.
  • Bake fries for 15 minutes.
  • Turn the fries and continue to cook until crisp, about 10 more minutes.

  • Remove from oven.

  • Serve with additional salt and pepper and your favorite dipping sauces.

Best Dipping Sauces for Fries:

  • Yield: 6 Servings
  • Substitute for Duck Fat: Olive oil, bacon grease or vegetable oil will also work for these oven fries.
  • Storage: Fries are best served fresh. They can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. 
  • Reheat: Reheat fries in an air fryer for 3-4 minutes at 370° or in a 400° oven on a sheet pan for 8- 10 minutes.

Duck Fat:

Duck fat adds amazing flavor to these fries and is so good to sear a steak. Refrigerate for months or freeze up to a year. Substitute duck fat in recipes for clarified butter or olive oil.

    1. Sounds delicious, but I’m curious as to what the dips are and how to make them, or are they storebought?

        Thanks so much. I served these fries with store bought ketchup, homemade honey mustard sauce and homemade blooming onion sauce. If you scroll through the post, just below the photo of the fry dipping into the sauce, there’s a list of the sauces with links to the recipes.
