Tips for the Best Homemade Air Fryer Onion Rings:

  1. Adding Panko breadcrumbs to the breading will add texture and crunch to the onion slices.
  2. Popping the coated onion rings into the freezer for just five minutes will help the breading stick to the onions and not come off while in the air fryer. This is the real secret to well coated, crunchy onion rings.
  3. Preheating the air fryer for 5 minutes will speed up the cooking time and make the onions rings crispier.
  4. Coating the breaded onion rings with oil will make them crispy, make sure that they are well coated for the best results. This method uses much less oil than deep-fried onion rings. Use olive oil or vegetable oil, non-stick cooking spray is not recommended for air fryers.
  5. Cook in small batches with the onion rings separated so that they don’t stick together.
