Ingredients for Steak Grilled Cheese
- Grilled Steak
- Butter
- Baby Portabella Mushrooms
- Kosher Salt
- Fresh Ground Pepper
- Sandwich Bread - we are using Homemade Amish White Bread
- Swiss Cheese Slices
Step By Step Directions for Steak and Mushroom Grilled Cheese
- Slice mushrooms and cook in a skillet with melted butter over medium heat. Stir occasionally until mushrooms start to brown. Season with salt and pepper and remove from heat.
- Slice steak into thin strips. Slice the bread if using homemade.
- Butter one side of each slice of bread.
- Stack two slices of bread- butter side together. Top each with one slice of cheese, steak, mushrooms, another slice of cheese.
- Heat a griddle or heat skillet over medium heat. Separate the bread, placing butter side out over the cheese. Place onto griddle and cook for 2- 3 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese is melted.
- Cook sandwiches 2 at a time.
- Slice in half and serve immediately.
How to Store and Reheat
These sandwiches are best right away but if you have leftovers, wrap in plastic wrap or store in a zip top bag in the refrigerator up to 2 days.
Reheat in a skillet or on a griddle over medium-low heat, turning after 2 minutes to heat from both sides.
