Chocolate Cookies

Ingredients for Chocolate Cookies

  • Butter – I use salted butter, unsalted works too.
  • Granulated Sugar – for the cookies and more for rolling the dough.
  • Brown Sugar
  • Large Eggs
  • Vanilla Extract
  • All Purpose Flour
  • Cocoa Powder – Natural unsweetened.
  • Baking Soda
  • Fine Sea Salt

Step By Step Directions for Cocoa Powder Cookies

  1. Add softened butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar to a mixer bowl. Beat with an electric mixer until fluffy and light, about 2 minutes.
  2. Add eggs and vanilla extract, beat until combined.
  3. With the mixer turned off, add flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt.
  4. Mix on low until ingredients combine, raise to medium and beat 1 minute.

  1. Line rimmed baking sheets with parchment paper or lightly grease.
  2. Add granulated sugar to a small bowl. Use a medium- size cookie scoop to make 1 1/2 inch balls and place about 2 inches apart on the lined baking sheets.
  3. Use a cookie stamp or the bottom of a glass to smash the cookies.
  4. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and cool for 3- 5 minutes on the cookie sheet.

  1. Move to a wire rack to cool.

  • Storage: Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature up to 1 week.
  • Freeze: Freeze cookie dough balls in a single layer on a lined baking sheet for 2 hours. Place in a freezer bag and freeze up to 3 months.
  • Freeze baked cookies with parchment in between layers in a freezer bag up to 3 months.

Can I Add Chocolate Chips?

Yes! Chocolate chips or chopped nuts make great additions to these cookies.
