What is Dump Cake?

Dump cake is a super simple dessert recipe where the ingredients are just dumped into the baking dish with no mixing required. Dump cake is made with fruit or pie filling topped with cake mix and butter.

Ingredients Needed

  • Apricot Pie Filling
  • Yellow Cake Mix
  • Dark Brown Sugar
  • Sliced Almonds
  • Butter

Step By Step Directions

Pour apricot pie filling into a 13 x 9 inch baking dish.

Sprinkle cake mix over the pie filling in an even layer.

Top with brown sugar and almonds.

Melt the butter, drizzle over the brown sugar and almonds.

Bake for 40 minutes or until well browned and pie filling is bubbling.

Remove from oven, cool on a wire rack for 15 minutes before serving.

Store apricot dump cake covered at room temperature up to 24 hours or in the refrigerator up to 2 days.

Set out about 30 minutes to come to room temperature or reheat in the microwave for about 30 seconds to serve warm.

  • 15.25 ounce yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 cup sliced almonds
  • 1 cup melted butter
