This dish has become my go-to when I don’t have a dinner plan and need to get something on the table. It’s every bit as delicious as take out, cooks up in a flash and always gets rave reviews!
I substituted beef for ground turkey, orange juice for pineapple juice, reduced the sugar and added grated fresh ginger. Super yum.

Was looking for something quick to whip up for dinner. Came across this recipe – have made something similar which I have saved. This all blended well together. Used 1 pound of ground beef and 1/2 pound of ground pork (I think pork bring out the flavor of the beef). Replaced soy with coconut aminos. Kept everything else as is. Allowed to simmer while rice cooked. Served with brown basmati which I had soaked before cooking, and with broccoli
Because I didn’t want to dirty up yet another pot and after rice was cooked, threw broccoli in with meat mixture to let steam to my liking. Turned out great! Hubby had enough leftover for lunch next day.

Very nice recipes
Delicious and easy! I brown and freeze ground beef in 2-lb portions, so I doubled the sauce ingredients (because my crew loves extra sauce with this style of meal) and added my precooked beef once the sauce was cooked. We all loved it!

I have a question about the nutrition part of many of your recipies. Listed after Serving: is “1g”. Pretty sure this can’t mean gram…please explain. Thank you!
Hi Jon,
I have updated that nutrition information. I hope that helps.

easy and delicious – 3 cups of rice is a little excessive (we eat rice every night) and you can get away with using 2 cups of rice. Also, used 2 lbs ground, rather than 1.5.
I love this dish, but do you have any tips for making it in a crockpot? I’m multiplying it by 3 for a bunch of people and don’t have the pans to make that much at once 😛 Thanks!
Hi Samantha,
I would cook the ground beef in batches and the sauce separately and then combine them in the crockpot. I hope that helps.
