    Fresh Cherry Cake Mix Cobbler

After having to talk someone into trying my "dump cake" I decided maybe I could call it "Cake Mix Cobbler" instead.  I never really thought about it, but dump cake does sound funny if you don't know that it's name comes from the fact that it's so easy to just dump everything in and bake it.  Anyhow, with my sudden abundance of fresh cherries this was a fabulous way to enjoy them!  I don't own a cherry pitter so walked around with purple fingers for about 4 days; it was all worth it!  My cherries were ripe and sweet so I didn't add any additional sugar, if yours are tart add a little sugar.  Of course you can use any fruit you like, I sometimes use canned pineapple and have often used canned or fresh peaches, you really can't go wrong.  The cake mix I had was butter pecan, but use whatever you have on hand, like white,  yellow, or spice. With three ingredients, it really doesn't get any easier!

    Fresh Cherry Cake Mix Cobbler

    Ingredients:

4 cups of fresh cherries, pitted and cut in half

1 box butter pecan cake mix (or flavor of your choice)

    1 ½ sticks butter, melted

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.  Pour fruit into a 9 inch x 13 inch glass baking dish and sprinkle dry cake mix over fruit.  Drizzle melted butter over cake mix and bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until cobbler is lightly browned and fruit starts to bubble.

Cool slightly and serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

    Enjoy!

I have fresh sweet Washington cherries to use up. I am going to put a pair of
kitchen gloves on before pitting cherres. Three ingredients is perfect! Taking this to a cook out tomorrow for a late 4th of July celebration. Thanks so.much for sharing your recipe.

Yikes. You need to stir after pouring over the melted butter, or you end up with clumps of dry cake mix on top. Hope the birds like it.
