n a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, minced garlic, spicy brown mustard, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, salt and pepper. Mix just until combined and shape into 5, thick patties.
Heat bacon grease in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Brown hamburger steaks 3–4 minutes per side until nicely seared. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
Melt butter in the skillet adding sliced onions. Cook, stirring often, until onions are soft and caramelized. Stir in the flour, cooking for 1–2 minutes. Whisk in broth a little at a time until smooth. Stir in Kitchen Bouquet if using with onion powder, salt and pepper.
Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet, spoon gravy over the top, reduce heat to low,. Simmer for about 15 minutes or until patties are cooked through to 165° using a digital meat thermometer.
Spoon hamburger steaks and plenty of onion gravy over mashed potatoes for a complete comfort food dinner.
