Strawberry-White Chocolate Ice Cream

As the summer temperatures continue to rise we are inspired to make frozen treats to try to beat the heat.  I have at least three or four in mind right now, but I know I have to pace myself.  Ice cream O.D. is not a good thing.  Green & Black’s sent me a few bars of their chocolate to try a while back.  I love chocolate so much that it was hard not to just devour them immediately.  I admit, I ate the milk chocolate almond bar all by myself,  a little at a time.  I used one of the bars of white chocolate to make Green & Black’s White Chocolate & Blackberry Cupcakes and the other in this ice cream.  I didn’t melt the chocolate, I just chopped it fine to give a little texture to the ice cream.  Packed with white chocolate bits and diced strawberries, it made for a decadent frozen dessert.  This would be a really great addition to the upcoming Fourth of July celebrations.  Ice cream is fun to experiment with and I think you will like how this one turns out!

Strawberry-White Chocolate Ice Cream

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups half and half
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups diced strawberries
  • 3.5 oz Green & Black’s Organic White Chocolate, finely chopped

Directions:

In a large bowl, add half and half, milk, sugar and vanilla and whisk together.  Add strawberries and white chocolate, stir.  Pour into ice cream maker and follow manufacturer directions.  When ice cream has set up, pour into a container, cover and freeze until ready to serve.

Enjoy!

Green & Black’s make my favorite white chocolate, I’m sure it’s even better in this delicious ice cream.

I was first introduced to Green & Blacks when I lived in the UK. It’s everyone’s favorite gourmet chocolate there. Imagine how crazy we all went when we were at a Van Morrison concert in a giant field, and Green & Blacks started giving out free pots of their new ice cream. I about died. I’ve been a die-hard fan ever since. Great recipe, I can’t wait to try it!

Wow! Gorgeous photo!

I’m a big fan of Green & Black’s chocolate. I don’t know how you had enough to put it in ice cream because I can’t stop eating it once it finds its way into my house!

I love chocolate but I never heard of Green & Blacks. Does my chocoholic card get revoked now? heheh

I don’t know the brand but I’d happily eat the ice cream. GREG

That is some gorgeous ice cream! Luckily for me (and thanks to you!), I recently purchased some Green and Black’s white chocolate at my local Whole Foods. This looks like the perfect recipe to try with it! Thanks, Milisa!

I’d totally add some blueberries for a perfect July 4th dessert treat! White chocolate and strawberries are such a perfect summery combo :)

I am obsessed with ice cream making these days. Yours version looks fabulous. Now I’m going to have to try a white chocolate version soon. Thanks!

How much ice cream does this yield? I just bought an ice cream maker and it says if you use an outside recipe to make sure that it yields 1 1/2 quarts or less…

You should be fine, I made this in what sounds like the same type of ice cream maker. It should make just a little over a quart.
