Ingredients

  • 36 ounces honey
  • 3 tablespoons red pepper flakes or more to taste
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

Instructions

  • Pour honey and chili flakes into a pan and cook over low heat, stirring often. Cook for 3-5 minutes or until honey is thin and pourable. You just want to simmer the honey, do not bring it to a boil.
  • Remove from heat and stir in apple cider vinegar. Cool slightly.
  • Strain chili flakes if desired or leave them in for a spicier kick.
  • Pour cooled honey into a glass jar or bottle and cover.
  • Store at room temperature up to a few months.

Notes

  • Start with a small amount of red pepper flakes and adjust to your spice preference.
  • For smoky depth, add a pinch of chipotle powder or smoked paprika.
  • Use a mild, light-colored honey for a more balanced flavor or try a darker honey for a richer taste.
  • Drizzle over appetizers, roasted vegetables, pizza, fried chicken or your favorite breads.
