- 36 ounces honey
- 3 tablespoons red pepper flakes or more to taste
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
Pour honey and chili flakes into a pan and cook over low heat, stirring often. Cook for 3-5 minutes or until honey is thin and pourable. You just want to simmer the honey, do not bring it to a boil.
Remove from heat and stir in apple cider vinegar. Cool slightly.
Strain chili flakes if desired or leave them in for a spicier kick.
Pour cooled honey into a glass jar or bottle and cover.
Store at room temperature up to a few months.
-
Start with a small amount of red pepper flakes and adjust to your spice preference.
-
For smoky depth, add a pinch of chipotle powder or smoked paprika.
-
Use a mild, light-colored honey for a more balanced flavor or try a darker honey for a richer taste.
-
Drizzle over appetizers, roasted vegetables, pizza, fried chicken or your favorite breads.
