Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups melted butter
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 3/4 cup Ranch Dressing Mix
  • 2 tablespoons granulated garlic
  • 2 tablespoons onion flakes
  • 1 tablespoon chili flakes or cayenne pepper
  • 6 cups Corn Chex
  • 6 cups Rice Chex
  • 6 cups Wheat Chex
  • 6 cups Oyster Crackers
  • 6 cups Mixed Nuts

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 250°.
  • Melt butter in a small skillet or microwave butter and add to a bowl with olive oil, ranch dressing mix, granulated, garlic, onion flakes and red pepper. Whisk together.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine Chex cereals, oyster crackers and mixed nuts.
  • Pour butter mixture over the cereal mixture.
  • Toss until well coated.
  • Spread onto rimmed baking sheets ( I used 3 half sheet pans) in a single layer.
  • Bake for 1 hour in a preheated oven, stirring every 15 minutes. I bake 2 baking sheets at a time and rotate the baking sheets between the top and bottom every 15 minutes.
  • Cool completely on the baking sheet.

Notes

  • Storage: Cooled chex mix can be stored in a zip top bag or airtight container up to 2 weeks.
  • Small Batch: Recipe can be halved if you want a regular size batch.
  • Additions: Pretzel sticks, cheez-its cheese crackers, bagel chips, rye chips or goldfish make great mix-ins of your choice to classic Chex Party Mix.
  • Variations: If you prefer the classic snack mix recipe, skip the ranch dressing mix and add Worcestershire sauce to the melted butter. Hot sauce can be added also for the spicy snack mix.
  • Gifting: Spoon spicy chex mix into cellophane bags and tie with ribbons or a glass jar.
