Chocolate Chip Walnut Bars

These are quite a delightful little treat, simple and not too sweet. These pair nicely with coffee or even including them into brunch.

Ingredients

  • 1 1 /4 cups all purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ½ cup butter softened
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup walnuts coarsely chopped

Instructions

  • Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees. 
  • In a large mixing bowl, add butter and brown sugar and beat with an electric mixer until fluffy. 
  • Add egg and vanilla and beat until well combined. 
  • Add flour and baking powder and mix well. 
  • Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts. 
  • Pour into a greased 8" x 8" baking pan and spread evenly. 
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until lightly browned and a knife inserted comes out clean. 
  • Cool and cut into squares.
