Do You Have to Have a Cookie Press?

No, you do not have to have a cookie press for spritz cookies. The dough can be piped with a piping bag and large star tip. Add 1 tablespoon of milk with the egg to the cookie dough to make it easier to pipe.

How to Use a Cookie Press

I purchased an OXO Cookie Press and it is so simple to use. It comes with multiple discs for different patterns and it’s also super easy to clean. The end unscrews for disc placement and the other comes off for filling.

After filling the cylinder, you add the lever end. The non slip end holds the cookie press in place and you pull the lever. It’s seriously easy. I adapted this recipe from the recipe book included with the cookie press.

Storing Spritz Cookies

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature up to 5 days.
