Chocolate Waffles

Chocolate Waffle Ice Cream Sundaes!  I'm talking Chocolate Waffles y'all, with coffee ice cream, dulce de leche caramel, and you can't forget the whipped cream!

Ingredients

  • cup butter
  • cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • cup sugar
  • 1 ⅔ cup milk
  • 2 eggs

Instructions

  • In a small microwave safe bowl, add butter and chocolate chips.  Microwave for 3o seconds, stir and return to microwave for an additional 30 seconds, whisk until smooth and chocolate is melted.
  • Whisk in cocoa powder and set aside.
    In a large batter bowl add flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.  Whisk together until well combined.
  • Add milk, eggs and chocolate mixture.  Stir together just until combined.
  • Preheat waffle iron.
  • Pour about 1 cup of batter into waffle iron and bake 2-3 minutes or until waffles are browned and cooked through.

Notes

For Waffle Sundaes:
Toast waffles in a toaster until lightly toasted.  Place each in a bowl and top with a scoop of ice cream, caramel sauce and whipped cream.
