- 1/4 pound ground sausage breakfast or Italian
- 16 ounces white mushrooms
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1 garlic clove minced
- 4 ounces cream cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 cup French fried onions
Brown sausage in a skillet, crumbling to brown all sides. Remove from pan and drain on a paper towel lined plate.
In another pan add olive oil, diced onion and minced garlic. Cook over medium heat until onions are softened.
Stir in sausage, cream cheese, shredded cheddar, salt and pepper.
Mix until cream cheese is melted and well combined.
Rinse mushrooms and pat dry with paper towels. Remove stems and save for another use.
Spoon filling mixture into mushroom caps.
Top with French fried onions.
Air Fryer Instructions:
Preheat air fryer for 5 minutes at 400°.
Place stuffed mushrooms in air fryer, a few at time, with space in between.
Cook for 8 minutes for 370°.
Garnish with parsley and serve hot or at room temperature.
Conventional Oven Directions:
Store leftover mushrooms covered with plastic wrap in the refrigerator up to 3 days.
Reheat in the air fryer at 300° for 2- 3 minutes or a conventional oven at 325° for about 8 minutes.
