For Meatballs
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 egg beaten
- 2 tablespoons steak sauce A1 or Country Bob's
- 5 saltine crackers crushed
- 1 teaspoon Mrs. Dash Seasoning I used garlic & herb
- 1/2 teaspoon granulated garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 2 tablespoons oil or bacon grease for frying
For Creamy Mushroom Gravy
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 8 oz white mushrooms coarsely chopped
- 2 cups broth chicken or vegetable
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 teaspoons herbs de provence
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 3 tablespoons mascarpone cheese or cream cheese
For Meatballs
Add ground beef, egg, steak sauce, cracker crumbs, Mrs. Dash, garlic, salt and pepper into a bowl.
Gently mix together until well combined. Form into 1 1/2 inch balls.
Bake on a greased baking sheet at 375 degrees for 20 minutes or add the oil to a skillet over medium heat. Cook until brown on all sides, about 10 minutes.
Remove to a paper towel lined plate to drain. Set aside.
For Creamy Mushroom Gravy
Add 2 tablespoons of butter to a medium to large skillet and place over medium heat. Add mushrooms and cook, stirring often about 5 minutes.
Mix broth and cornstarch together and add to mushrooms. Add herbs de provence, salt and pepper. Cook until it comes to a boil.
Lower heat to simmer and cook 5 minutes. Stir in mascarpone and stir until smooth. Cook 5 minutes.
Add meatballs to gravy and simmer for 10 minutes or serve the gravy on the side.
- Best served over mashed potatoes.
- Creamy Mushroom Gravy is also great over chicken, turkey, or hamburger steaks.
