I have lived in the southeastern corner of Alabama for 59 years and most cooks I know use Old Bay seasoning (or 3 B’s) when they fry shrimp. Your statement must be your area’s preference. To each his own. You don’t have to use it but I can’t wait to try this method with buttermilk!!

They do freeze shrimp on the boats.
