FOR REVIEW!

Mid Continent Cabinetry

A few months ago we started remodeling our kitchen.  Except for the flooring, my husband and I did all of the work, and boy was it a lot of work!  However, now that it is finished I am very appreciative and am enjoying every minute I am in the kitchen cooking up new things!  We chose Natural Hickory cabinets from Mid Continent Cabinetry.  I am very pleased with the outcome. The drawers are made of wood and the solid hickory doors are so beautiful, yet rustic enough to blend well in our log home.  The cabinets have a wonderful finish that makes them easy to wipe down.  Believe me, between myself and the three boys we create some messes!
I worked with Bloedorn Lumber for designing and ordering the cabinets and could not be happier with the whole experience.  Mid Continent makes a wide range of cabinets in many styles and finishes, if you are considering new cabinets, I would recommend checking them out!   To see more pictures of my kitchen remodel check out the Chocolate Cheesecake with Peanut Butter Cream post!

Disclosure: I received a discount on my cabinet order in exchange for the review, all opinions are honest and my own.

I could go on for days about my love for the OXO GOOD GRIPS products.  I received their potato peeler as a wedding gift and I am still using it today, 18 years later.  Now that’s quality!  I also have a cheese grater, paring knife, cookie scoop, dough blender, multi-purpose scraper & chopper and now a food mill and rubber spatula.  If you think that’s a long list you should see my wish list!  I reckon you get the point.  OXO makes a great product.  I had a food mill a few years ago and I ended up giving it away.  I thought it was too much trouble to use and clean.  The OXO Food Mill is different!  So easy to assemble and use plus cleanup is a snap.  I was so impressed, I know I will use it often.  Food mills produce the fluffiest mashed potatoes and it is the perfect tool for making jams and jellies or homemade apple sauce. Don’t forget about amazing soups, like my Mom’s tomato soup.  You can also make homemade baby food with this food mill, isn’t that handy?  I highly recommend the OXO GOOD GRIPS Food Mill.  It is a great addition to any kitchen and for any level of cook.  What a great gift idea.  OXO also sent a Rubber Spatula for me to try out.  It’s my new favorite spatula, not just because it is red!  It is the perfect fit for my hand, it is sturdy and ideal for using with my food mill.  I love the OXO products and I know you will too!

OXO provided the food mill and spatula, of course the opinions are my own, thank you very much!

__________________________________________________________________________Guy Fieri’s Knuckle Sandwich 8″ Chef Knife “Big Stick” with Criss Cross Crusher by Ergo Chef. Now isn’t that the coolest knife you have ever seen?  You know it’s going to be awesome coming from superstar chef Guy Fieri.  I was super impressed with this knife, not just for it’s great looks but the comfort and ease of use.  It has such a great feel to it.  It is sturdy and stable but not too heavy.   I easily chopped vegetables, sliced meat, like the brisket above, chopped nuts, garlic, herbs, all with ease.  It is now the first knife I reach for.  My son said, “Mom can we have steak tonight, cause I need to use that knife.”  Maybe a little big for a steak knife but it will definitely do the job!  On the handle end of the knife there is a criss cross crusher for garlic, nuts and the like.  How handy is that!  My favorite thing about the knife is that I can chop for an extended period of time and my arm doesn’t get tired or ache, it is truly comfortable to use, like it was made just for me.

Here are a few more of the attributes:

  • The blades are precision heat treated to 56RC to keep a great edge
  • Patented ergonomic design is created to be an extension of your hand for natural comfort
  • Made of high carbon German stainless steel (X50CrMoV15) for stain resistance
  • Full tang and abbreviated bolster adds strength and balance
  • Hollow ground ovals in blade promote less stick and smoother cuts

I was supplied with a knife from Ergo Chef to review.  Comments and opinions are my own.

The Orginial Recipe Slathern’ Sauce

As I stated in the Hawaiian Pizza post this sauce is some kind of fantastic.  It states on the label that it is “The Cure for boring food” and by golly it is!  I was excited to try this new brand and it lives up to everything that the name implies.  Sweet and a little spicy not your usual run of the mill sauce, a great combination of flavors.  Stated best by Slather Brand Foods on their site, ” This sticky, sweet, slightly spicy sauce is a unique blend of honey, pineapple, tomatoes, crushed red pepper and spices.”

Having created my own barbecue sauce that I turned into a small business and later sold, I am pretty partial to my own sauce, but always anxious to try others.  This is a really unique sauce that my whole family enjoyed, in fact everyone that came through my house had to stop and try it.  They all agreed, it’s fantastic.  We used this sauce on grilled steaks, fried chicken, Hawaiian pizza sauce and made a dandy snack with my favorite snack of Dubliner cheese and crackers.  The possibilities are truly endless.  After these delicious meals I found my bottle to be empty!  I promptly ordered more and of course I would love to share with you so one lucky reader will win a bottle of each of Original Slathern’ Sauce and Spicy Slathern’ Sauce! Just hop on over to the Hawaiian Pizza post and leave a comment!

I was provided with a bottle of each sauce to sample from Slather Brand Foods.

The opinions expressed are my own and I am sponsoring the giveaway.

For Review!

Bob Marley always said he would return to farming one day. With Marley Coffee, Bob’s son Rohan fulfills the dream. Cooking.com has partnered with Marley Coffee and they offered to send me a bag of Marley Coffee to try out and review.  I am somewhat of a coffee fanatic, so of course I said YEAH!  I have one of those coffee makers with the automatic timers so that the coffee is ready when I get up in the morning, which is a really good thing.  I am not much of a morning person, I must be a middle of the day kind of person, because I am not a night owl either!  Okay, back to the coffee.  I really liked the coffee, it was a slightly darker roast than I usually drink, but it had great flavor without bitterness.  I just hate bitter coffee, I guess I am a bit picky. We drink a lot of coffee, especially in the winter, at least two pots a day and today we drank three as the temperatures dwindled down well below zero.  I also shared this coffee with a neighbor and it was well received.
I would recommend this coffee, it is a bit more expensive than my regular coffee, but as much as I love coffee, I tend to splurge every now and again. This would also make a great gift for a coffee lover.  Cooking.com has partnered with Marley Coffee to bring you all of the coffee essentials from coffee grinders, coffee pots, dvds, you name it.  Head on over and check it out. Disclosure: I was not compensated for this review.  I received one bag of coffee for review.  The opinions expressed are my own.  Thank you and goodnight!

Le Creuset Stoneware Rectangular Baker Set

I received this set as a gift from my aunt a few years back.  I can’t say enough about the quality, durability and usefulness of Le Creuset cookware.  I love every piece I own.  I use the Baker Set for roasting chicken breasts, vegetables, pasta bakes and more.  They are so beautiful they go right from the oven to the table for serving and then to the refrigerator for storing.  Easy clean up, they are dishwasher safe, a huge plus to busy cooks.   The finish is durable, I have had mine for about four years with no chips, scratches or stains.  I love the cherry red color that brightens up my kitchen and dinner table, always beautiful.

Right now when you purchase this 2-pc. rectangular baker set  from Cooking.com

(includes 10.5×7-in. and 12×9.5-in. bakers) you’ll receive a 7×5-in. rectangular baker free!
