Mrs. Smith’s Signature Dutch Apple Pie with Kicked Up Caramel Sauce
My Dad’s favorite birthday cake was always an apple pie. Every year my Mom would bake him a Mrs. Smith’s Apple Pie. I honestly didn’t realize that anyone else ever made apple pie, except for Mrs. Smith! So this post is for you Dad, I never have apple pie without thinking of you!
My Dad and my Grandma, love them!
It was always so hard to wait that hour for the pie to bake. The warm smell of baking apples that filled the house, I can’t forget it. The perfect flaky crust, it is hard to beat. Still to this day, Mrs. Smith makes the best pies, just like I remember.
Now Mrs. Smith’s Signature Deep Dish Pies are even more delicious with the addition of caramel sauce for the Dutch Apple Pie, cream cheese icing for the Pumpkin and Peach Pies, and the Cherry has BUTTER FUDGE! Yes I said BUTTER FUDGE!
The possibilities are endless! Swap the icing packets for different pies: drizzle the cream cheese over the apple, the butter fudge over the pumpkin, it’s all good! Or do like I did and kick up the caramel sauce with a little cinnamon (a 1/4 teaspoon to be exact). Yes, it is a very good idea! This time of year extra time is priceless and I love the time Mrs. Smith saves me and with guaranteed delicious results!
