Homemade Baileys Irish Cream

I have enjoyed a splash of Baileys Irish Cream in my coffee many, many times, it’s just so good on a cold winter’s day. Last fall I even added it to my Mini Mudslide Cheesecakes and I can totally say that there’s no bad way to enjoy Irish Cream!

I had been wanting to try a homemade Baileys for a long time and finally got around to it. I looked at quite a few recipes and after a few attempts came up with one that I really loved. There’s only a few ingredients and it’s so easy!

Ingredients for Homemade Bailey's Irish Cream

How to Make Homemade Baileys Irish Cream:

Add Irish whiskey, sweetened condensed milk, heavy whipping cream, chocolate syrup, vanilla extract and coffee extract to a blender and blend until well combined.

Pour into airtight containers and refrigerate. Give it a good shake before using. It should keep in the refrigerator about 6 weeks but if you are like me, this small batch won’t last long.

I really liked the homemade Irish cream better than the store bought. The only thing I had to pick up to make it was the Irish Whiskey, otherwise, this has pretty basic pantry staples and I think it’s a little less expensive.

Homemade Baileys would be a great hostess gift or homemade gift for the holidays. Just seal it up in a cute jar and you are good to go.

Homemade Bailey's Irish Cream is the perfect coffee creamer!

I do love to sit by the fire with a big cup of coffee with Baileys Irish cream and it’s also pretty good stirred into this Rich and Creamy Hot Chocolate or in a Baileys Chai Float! If you have some Guinness on hand, these Salted Caramel Guinness Floats are out of this world for an easy dessert cocktail.

Rather you are just warming up from the bitter cold or hosting a St. Patrick’s Day get together with friends, having this Homemade Bailey’s on hand is a great idea.

  1. Will lower fat ingredients work in this recipe? This is pretty high in calories for an ounce. I believe you’re quoting a tablespoon for 45 calories.

    1. Hi Angie,
I haven’t tried it with low fat ingredients, but I really think it would work. I think the whiskey adds a lot of calories and my calculations are only an estimate. Let me know if you try it with the low fat ingredients.

    1. Hi Maureen,
I think it has to do with the mixing, it does get almost like whipped cream. I just gave mine a stir before adding it to my coffee.
