Hickory Smoked Chicken Wings

My kids absolutely love chicken wings, but seriously who can resist? I haven’t made them in ages I just knew the hickory smoke would take these to over the top deliciousness.

 

How to Make Hickory Smoked Chicken Wings:

Prepare your grill with hickory grilling wood – you will want to cook these wings over indirect heat.

Drain chicken and pat dry with paper towels.

Prepare the Italian Glaze

  • Olive Oil
  • White Wine Vinegar
  • Balsamic Vinegar
  • Honey
  • Brown Sugar
  • Lime Juice
  • Mustard
  • Prepared Horseradish
  • Italian Seasoning
  • Granulated Garlic
  • Black Pepper
  • Salt

Hickory Smoked Chicken Wings on the grillWhen the grill reaches 350 degrees, place the wings over indirect heat. Close the lid and smoke for 15- 20 minutes.

Italian Glaze for Hickory Smoked Chicken WIngs

When the internal temperature of the wings is at 140-150 degrees, remove wings and toss with Italian Glaze until well coated.

Pile wings back on the grill and brush with remaining glaze.

Lower the grill temperature to around 200 degrees and close the lid. Continue to smoke 15-20 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165 degrees.

Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve immediately.

These were the BEST chicken wings I’ve ever had, hands down. A hit with the entire family. Incredible flavors and the hickory smoke just can’t be beat. So good that they don’t even need a dipping sauce!

I know these will be the hit of any party or backyard cookout and even for tailgating this fall. A great appetizer and if you love chicken wings like we do, they are totally acceptable as a main coarse.

Easy Hickory Smoked Chicken Wings

Speaking of fall, it’s just around the corner! Emmet goes back to school in one week. How is that possible?

It’s been such a busy summer for us and exciting too. Our first grandson was born about about month ago and I’ve been soaking up as many baby snuggles as possible!

I’m ready for those fall temperatures but I’m never ready for school to start back.

I have a few more things I want to squeeze in before school starts next week, I may even take a couple of days off for some end of summer fun.

Hickory Smoked Chicken Wings

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 pounds chicken wings
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup white wine vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons lime juice
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Italian Seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons granulated garlic
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon prepared mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon prepared horseradish
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley for garnish if desired

Instructions

  • Prepare grill with hickory grilling wood for indirect heat.
  • Drain and pat chicken wings dry with paper towels.
  • Mix together remaining ingredients in a large bowl and set aside.
  • When grill reaches 350 degrees place chicken over indirect heat.
  • Close the lid and cook 15-20 minutes until chicken reaches 140-150 degrees internally.
  • Remove chicken wings to bowl with glaze. Toss to coat well.
  • Return chicken to the grill and brush with remaining glaze.
  • Lower grill temperature to 200 degrees and shut the lid. Continue to cook for 15-20 minutes or until chicken reaches 165 degrees internally.
  • Remove from grill and serve immediately.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
