My kids have never been the best at getting up and eating breakfast before school. They are boys, they reluctantly get up, get dressed and go. I know how important breakfast is for school kids so I try to keep their favorite breakfast food handy in the freezer.
I’m not much of a morning person either and you won’t catch me cooking a nine course breakfast beore school. Yes I love to cook, but not before cups and cups of coffee.
One of the benefits of frozen foods is of course convenience, they are ready when you are. I think it was probably when the kids would help us calving heifers that we really got hooked on Jimmy Dean Breakfast Sandwiches and now they are a staple in our freezer. A buttery biscuit topped with delicious Jimmy Dean Sausage plus eggs and cheese, they are the perfect on the go breakfast.
Of course Eggo Waffles are also a favorite, my kids would eat waffles 3 times a day. You can count on these great breakfast options to be made with real ingredients, prepared the same way you would if you had the time.
My boys all have different prefrences and since it’s so tough to get them to eat breakfast, I try to have a variety of breakfast options. With individual servings and packages like the Pillsbury Toaster Strudels, I don’t have any waste. Each kid can choose their breakfast, no fussing, no complaining, just eating.
Most of the time our family goes non-stop. On the ranch, no two days are the same and it can make meal planning very difficult. When it comes to fresh vs frozen, I rely on frozen vegetables from Green Giant for those days that everything goes haywire and I have no plan for dinner. Fresh veggies are fantastic but there are weeks that I can’t seem to get them on the table, and I simply can not stand to throw away food!
Freezing pauses inspired recipes and fine ingredients at the peak of perfection and suspends them there until the moment you are ready to enjoy them. Check out Frozen. How Fresh Stays Fresh for all of the details.
We just bought a chest freezer for the garage and I’m loving quick, delicious and healthy options it is giving us even though our lifestyle is in a constant state of busy.
