Over the weekend my boys had big plans of heading to the woods. Instead they stuck around and helped out to plant a garden and a beautiful flower bed.
There may have been some grumbling but I never heard a word of it. Cody and Tucker helped me get the Miracle-Gro Garden Soil, the mulch and the plants. My husband and Emmet cleared out the weeds and grass around our cypress tree and we all went to work.
We all scattered the mulch and then we moved into the back yard.
Life is pretty busy so we decided container gardening was the way to go this year. We are using mineral tubs leftover from our cows. We drilled holes around the bottom for drainage. Then we filled them with Miracle-Gro Garden Soil.
We planted three varieties of tomatoes, banana peppers, sweet yellow peppers, orange peppers, snacking peppers and an Anahiem pepper. We also planted lettuce, onions, thyme, basil and rosemary.
Container gardening is perfect for small spaces, there’s virtually no weeding (YAY), you don’t have to bend over to the ground to tend your plants. It is easy to get the plants watered and tended. The Miracle-Gro Garden Soil has 3 months of Miracle-Gro Continuous Release Plant Food, giving your plants the best start.
We are all beyond excited to have garden fresh vegtetables this summer. A big juicy tomato on a fresh grilled burger is hard to beat!
When we were all finished and the flower bed looked so pretty and the vegetable plants were watered, we grilled some steaks and enjoyed the evening. Tucker said it was the best day we had together in a long time. That really made my day.
Tucker also commented that taking his picture while planting flowers was pushing his limits, he really hates having his picture taken. The things boys will do for their momma. All in all it was a day that we all enjoyed together and I love that we are able to pass the importance of gardening along to our kids.
