When having hamburgers; top with a few of the onion strings……..OMG, Delicious. Onion strings are even great topped on top of a grilled hot dog
I love that idea!
Can you make these in a air fryer and what temperature and how long
These onion rings look amazing. Our family loves onion rings. Going to make these with your barbecue hamburgers. Another great recipe! Thanks
Great plan! I hope y’all enjoy them!
Do you think these could be made in a air fryer?
I!’d like to know about cooking in an air dryer as well
I don’t think this recipe would be as good in the air fryer, I will see i I can come up with one though!

What is blackened seasoning?
You can google a recipe…I found one that way!
These were yum!! I did it in the air fryer and we both were completely satisfied…maybe they would have been ‘extra’ in the deep fry but for the calories saved and that we enjoyed them in and off burgers … it’s worth trying it.
I used the basket (brushed with a bit of oil) and then dribbled a couple teaspoons of oil on each batch…shaking regularly as I do with fried etc.
Thanks!

Exactly what I’ve been looking for. Just right. I’ll be eating so more often now.

Made the onions strings from this recipe tonight 3/11/2020 for my family. They were so good. Will keep this one for future use. Everyone said they tasted so good with the burgers. Love them😄
These were fantastic. They were exactly what I wanted texture wise. Better than almost any onion rings I have ever had. Simple straightforward and delicious.
Hi Taylor,
I’m so glad you enjoyed them! Thanks for stopping by and letting me know, you have made my day!

Loved them! Thanks 🙂
Whst restaurant has these on their burgers in Cleveland??
*jaw drops to floor, eyes pop out of sockets accompanied by trumpets, heart beats out of chest, awooga awooga sound effect, pulls chain on train whistle that has appeared next to head as steam blows out, slams fists on table, rattling any plates, bowls or silverware, whistles loudly, fireworks shoot from top of head, pants loudly as tongue hangs out of mouth, wipes comically large bead of sweat from forehead, clears throat, straightens tie, combs hair* Ahem, you look very lovely.
Hi! These looks so yummy. I want to make them to put on top of a green bean casserole for Thanksgiving. Do you know if these will keep crispy if I prepare them the day before? I’m just trying to plan everything out. Thanks!
Hi Joel,
They are best made the day of, they will not be as crispy made ahead.

Any idea how to make these in the air fryer?
Hi Kelly,
It’s on my list to try, but I haven’t got around to it yet. If you want to try it, spray the onion strings with olive oil or vegetable oil and place in a single, layer, not touching. I’m thinking 380° for about 8- 10 minutes. I’d keep a close eye on them at about 5 minutes. Let me know how it turns out if you try it.

You’d have to coat (spray) the onions with enough oil to completely moisten the flour coating. These are best fried.
There used to be a small restaurant in Marion Iowa, called “the Maidrite”. This is how they made their onion rings, and they were fabulous! Friends and I would go there just for the onion rings. I’ve made them at in home in a deep fat fryer, it works really well, but it does leave a lot of flour in the grease.
Hi Pat,
It is a messy business to make onion rings at home, but so worth it and those small town restaurants have always been the best! Thanks for stopping by.

These onion rings made with your spice blend are phenomenal!!! To us they taste just like the “blooming onion” from Outback but just a little milder. I did only use half the cayenne pepper in the recipe. Won’t ever cook them any other way or buy frozen now! Thank you!!
Hi Susan,
That makes my day! We love homemade onion rings and these are our favorite.
