My bedroom closet had become a complete and total mess and I am sharing some Easy Closet Organization ideas that I hope will inspire you to lose the clutter like I did!
Giving my closet a complete overhaul has been on my list for sometime now. I have got into the habit of just piling clothes on the shelf when I didn’t have time to sort them, fold them or hang them up.
What you are about to see is just plain embarrassing, but it’s totally real life. My schedule sometimes gets totally insane and I have to admit, the housework is often what gives. Especially my bedroom that no one ever sees.
Well until I go and post pictures on the internet! Ha! So here it is. These photos are my real bedroom closet mess before I became fed up and finally got it cleaned and organized!
My closet is really nice. My husband made the shelves out of cedar that he cut from the ranch. It was time for me to get my stuff organized and rid of the clutter.
I couldn’t find anything that I was looking for. Honestly, I have been putting this off because it’s completely overwhelming! The best way to tackle this kind of project is to just get started.
Cleaning Out My Closet
- Find affordable storage options for organization
- Sort everything into 3 piles: Keep, Donate, Trash
- Make a place for everything that I’m keeping
I love shopping at Wayfair for cute storage options. I found 3 great products to get my closet organized and it’s going to be so simple to keep it that way.
The fabric drawers were the perfect for my summer capris, my collection of winter socks – that were so nice to have in Wyoming but only necessary in Oklahoma about 2 days out of the year and some of the things that I don’t wear often but can’t bear to part with.
The fabric boxes fit perfectly on the top shelf of my closet. It was like I planned it but I was actually surprised that they were an actual perfect fit!
I used the wire baskets to organize my sweaters, my leggings and my sweat pants. Do people still say sweat pants or is that leftover from the 80’s? I have no idea. What I did learn is that I have 14 pairs of leggings and sweat pants and 4 pairs of jeans. I like to be comfortable!
It was also a good place to prop up my fancy cowboy hat that I never, ever wear and a good place for my favorite Kate Spade bag.
I did a ton of sorting and only kept hung the clothes that I actually wear. I used the Multi-Pant Hanger for my dress pants that I don’t wear often. They are great to free up some extra space. I was able to hang 4 pairs on one hanger.
They were sturdy enough to hold a couple of pairs of my husband’s jeans.
Using the multi pant hangers really freed up some space for our clothes to hang. Making it easier to find what we are looking for. I straightened up the shelf where I keep the quilts that my mom made and keep my shoes in the basket.
I swear getting this done was like a huge load off of my mind. I think there really is something to clearing out the clutter from our homes. Next up is my office. If you think my closet was bad…. holy cow, my office might be worse.
I’d love to hear any tips you have for clearing out the clutter and getting your home organized!
