    Candy Bar Brownies

I love mini candy bars and this is the time of year where they are in abundance.  I had a bag of fun size Milky Way candy bars decided to try them in a batch of Candy Bar Brownies.

When I took them out of the oven they were not as pretty as I had hoped.  The boys came through and said they tasted wonderful, but really how could you go wrong with a mini candy bar stuffed inside a brownie?

I cut the Milky Ways into small pieces and stuffed them down into the brownie batter.  While baking the fluffy nougat puffed up and became a little crunchy on the top, something I wasn't expecting but it added a nice texture to the brownies.  Rich doesn't quite describe these Candy Bar Brownies, they are beyond rich, so I cut them into bite size pieces around each candy bar piece.

I'm guessing any candy bar would work but I really loved the caramel goodness of the Milky Way and with a glass of milk it was pure chocolate dessert bliss.  What is your chocolate weakness?

    Candy Bar Brownies

    Ingredients:

    • ½ cup butter
    • ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
    • ¼ cup cocoa powder
    • 1 cup brown sugar
    • 3 eggs
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1 cup all purpose flour
    • 12 fun size Milky Way candy bars, cut into fourths

    Cooking Directions:
    Preheat oven to 325°F.

Line an 8 x 11.5 inch baking dish with foil and spray with non-stick cooking spray.

Place a small sauce pan over low heat.  Add butter and chocolate chips, stirring just until melted. Remove from heat and stir in cocoa powder and brown sugar.

Pour into a large mixing bowl.  Add eggs and vanilla extract, stirring until combined.  Stir in flour just until combined.

Pour into baking dish.  Press candy bar pieces into batter.

Bake for 40 minutes or until brownies start to pull away from sides of pan.

Cool for 1 hour and cut into small squares around candy bars.

Store cooled brownies in an airtight container.

    Enjoy!
