I am glad you enjoyed the recipe. I always keep the leftover brine and I think it will last a really long time if you can it or store it in the refrigerator. Honestly, I’ve kept a jar in the refrigerator for over 6 months and it was fine.

I just discovered Candied Jalapenos aka Cowboy Candy this past year and I’m hooked. I used a different recipe the first time and decided to try another this time. I do have leftover brine from the first batch and I’ll add that to this batch. I’m guessing I’ll have leftover this time as well. Any idea how long the leftover brine will be good? I’m planning to vacuum seal it and I’m guessing it will last quite some time. Thanks for the recipe. Just signed up for your email recipes.

They will last a long, long time, even when opened.

Hi Heather,
I have actually kept them in the fridge for a year and they were fine in a sealed jar but usually we eat them way before that. I hope that helps.

Hi Linda,
I haven’t ever tried using stevia like that but I can’t really see any reason why it wouldn’t work. Let me know if you try it.

I love this recipe but my husband is a diabetic so I can’t use sugar will stevia work as well?
