    Bruschetta Burgers

I do enjoy summer time grilling and  I could eat grilled burgers all day long.  I made bruschetta for the first time last week. Why  I waited so long to make something so delicious, I am not sure, but we all loved it.  When I ate it, I couldn't help but think how good it would be on a burger, and as it turns out, it is fabulous.  It's so quick and easy to prepare and a great addition to your burger repertoire. Okay, now for the giveaway!  Leave a comment on this post and you are entered to win a New West Knifeworks Fusionwood Paring Knife.  Read my review for the details and extra ways to win!  Good luck!

UPDATE:  AND THE WINNER IS KIM IN MD: What a fabulous idea! Why didn’t I think of that? This would be a fabulous burger for the 4th of July. Thanks for sharing!

    CONGRATS TO THE WINNER!

    Bruschetta Burgers

    Ingredients:

    Burgers:

    2 pounds lean ground beef

    1 teaspoon granulated garlic

    1 teaspoon salt

    ½ teaspoon pepper

    Bruschetta:

1 cup sliced grape or cherry tomatoes

2 tablespoons fresh basil, cut into ribbons

    1 tablespoon olive oil

    1 teaspoon salt

    ½ teaspoon fresh ground pepper

    ½ cup mozzarella cheese, grated

    8 hamburger buns

1 garlic clove, cut in half

    ¼ cup butter, softened

    Cooking Directions:

Divide ground beef into 8 patties and season with granulated garlic, salt and pepper.  While grill is heating, combine sliced tomatoes, basil (cut into ribbons by stacking basil leaves, rolling long wise and cutting crosswise), olive oil, salt and fresh ground pepper, set aside.  Grill burger patties until cooked through.  While burgers are still on the grill sprinkle each with about one tablespoon of mozzarella and top with2 tablespoons of tomato mixture.  Leave on grill just long enough for cheese to melt.               Cut garlic clove in half and rub both sides of all buns.  Spread each bun lightly with butter and toast lightly.                                           Assemble burgers adding mayo or any favorite condiment.

    Enjoy!
