  • Butter
  • Baby Portabella Mushrooms
  • Kosher Salt

  • Sandwich Bread – we are using Homemade Amish White Bread
  • Swiss Cheese Slices

Step By Step Directions for Steak and Mushroom Grilled Cheese

  1. Slice mushrooms and cook in a skillet with melted butter over medium heat. Stir occasionally until mushrooms start to brown. Season with salt and pepper and remove from heat.

  1. Slice steak into thin strips. Slice the bread if using homemade.

  1. Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  2. Stack two slices of bread- butter side together. Top each with one slice of cheese, steak, mushrooms, another slice of cheese.

  1. Heat a griddle or heat skillet over medium heat. Separate the bread, placing butter side out over the cheese. Place onto griddle and cook for 2- 3 minutes per side until golden brown and cheese is melted.
  2. Cook sandwiches 2 at a time.

How to Store and Reheat

These sandwiches are best right away but if you have leftovers, wrap in plastic wrap or store in a zip top bag in the refrigerator up to 2 days.

Reheat in a skillet or on a griddle over medium-low heat, turning after 2 minutes to heat from both sides.
