Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

Oatmeal cookies are always great and these are made even better with a little cinnamon and chocolate chips.  My little guy says, “you mean Oakmeal cookies, Mom”.   This makes a pretty big batch, however, due to the high number of cookie dough thieves around here, I am unsure how many it will make, I would guess around three dozen.  Rather you eat them as dough or baked cookies, I hope you like them!

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

1/2 cup butter, softened

1/2 cup shortening

1 cup brown sugar

1 cup sugar

3 eggs

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1 3/4 cup all purpose flour

2 1/2 cups old fashioned oats

2 cups chocolate chips

2 teaspoons cinnamon

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Cooking Directions:

Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees.  In a large mixing bowl, with and electric mixer, cream butter, shortening, brown sugar, and sugar together.  Beat in eggs and vanilla.  Add in flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon and oats, mixing until well combined.  Stir in chocolate chips.  Drop by tablespoonfuls or use a medium size cookie scoop onto greased baking sheets and bake for 8 -10 minutes or until lightly browned.  Remove to wire rack to cool.
