Holiday Cheese Ball

Happy Thanksgiving Y’all! One more holiday recipe just in case you need one more thing.  I do that all the time, at the last minute I think I should have one more dish.  I have been making this cheese ball for years and years.  I make it for every holiday and every special get together.  It is so easy and I can’t say that I like the store bought cheese balls near as well, plus you know exactly what is in it.  It will keep for a couple of days in the refrigerator but I have to say it doesn’t usually last that long. Easy to do ahead of time or even spur of the moment.   You can shape it into a ball or a log and it’s easy to divide in two and have one for yourself and one to give to your favorite neighbor.  This would also be a great addition to your holiday baskets.   I used chopped walnuts this time, just use whatever kind of nuts that you have.  It’s so good, you’re going to love it!

Holiday Cheese Ball


8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup minced onion

1/4 teaspoon sea salt

1/2 teaspoon granulated garlic

2 tablespoons parsley, chopped

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 cup Colby-jack cheese, shredded (cheddar will work too)

1 cup toasted walnuts, pecans, or almonds, chopped


Combine cream cheese, onion, seasonings, parsley and worcestershire sauce until smooth and thoroughly mixed.  Stir in cheese.  Spoon onto a sheet of plastic wrap, shaping into a ball as you cover it.  Refrigerate for 1 hour.  Remove from refrigerator, unwrap and roll in chopped nuts until all surfaces are coated in nuts.  Cover with plastic wrap and return to refrigerator for another hour or overnight.  Remove from refrigerator and allow to come to room temperature before serving, about 30 minutes.  Serve with crackers.
