Caramel Brownies

Caramel Brownies

Caramel Brownies are total gooey goodness.  I found some caramel bits, which are like the wrapped caramels, but there are not wrappers and they melt super easy.  I added some to the brownies and then melted the rest to pour over the brownies.  You can’t use too much caramel, can you?  You have to give these a try, they are rich and delicious!

Caramel Brownies

1 cup butter

4 oz bitter-sweet chocolate

3/4 cup sugar

3/4 cup brown sugar

2 eggs

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

2 1/4 cup flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 cup caramel bits, divided

2 tablespoons half and half

Cooking Directions:

In a microwave safe bowl combine butter and chocolate, broken into pieces.  Microwave at 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until chocolate has melted completely.  Add sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla, stir until well combined, beat in eggs.  Add flour, soda, salt  and 1 cup of caramel bits.  Pour into 8″ x 8″ glass baking pan & bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.  Meanwhile, in a small microwave safe bowl combine remaining 1/2 cup caramel bits and 2 tablespoons half and half, cooking at 30 second intervals and stirring in between  until caramel is melted and smooth.  Serve each brownie with about two teaspoons of caramel sauce.  YUMMY!
