I love party food, appetizers, and everything that can be spread upon a baguette and called crostini!  I don’t really wait for parties to have these wonderful treats, sometimes I make them for lunch or an afternoon snack.  I mean why not?

Ile De France was so kind to send me some of their spreadable cheeses to try.  The  Creme de Bleu spreadable blue cheese is made with cow’s milk collected daily in the mountainous Auvergne region of France.  The new Chèvremousse is an all-natural, uniquely flavorful whipped goat cheese and it’s luxurious texture gives it a satisfying mouth feel to match an ultra fresh flavor profile.

I am a total cheese fanatic and you will not find better quality cheese than Ile De France.  I used the blue cheese spread to make a super simple and delicious appetizer.  I lightly toasted a baguette and spread it with the blue cheese, topped it with a thin slice of apple and drizzled it with honey.  I sprinkled smoked almonds and a bit of fresh thyme over the apple and it was one of the best bites ever.

I would say these Apple-Blue Cheese Crostini would be ideal for a cocktail party or small get together, or even as a special afternoon snack.  If you love blue cheese as much as I do, then you are going to love these appetizers!

Apple-Blue Cheese Crostini Recipe from Miss in the Kitchen

Apple-Blue Cheese Crostini
 
Ingredients
  • 1 baguette
  • Ile De France Crème de Bleu
  • 1 sweet apple, thinly sliced
  • ¼ cup smoked and salted almonds, coarsely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 teaspoons fresh thyme
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Thinly slice baguette and toast lightly on both sides. Spread each slice with Creme de Bleu. Top with an apple slice, drizzle with honey. Sprinkle with chopped almonds and fresh thyme.
  3. Serve immediately.
