Breakfast for supper is really common around our house and when it’s waffles the guys are extra happy.  Today I’m sharing Whole Grain Waffles, they are packed with whole wheat flour, oats, flax meal, pecans and a touch of cinnamon.

How to Make Whole Grain Waffles:

  • Add dry ingredients to a batter bowl and whisk together. 
  • Add liquid ingredients and mix together just until it comes together, it’s alright to have a few lumps.
  • Pour about 1 cup of batter into waffle iron and bake 2-3 minutes or until waffles are browned and cooked through. 
  • Place on a wire rack until ready to serve.
  • Serve with butter and your favorite syrup, honey or a good slathering of Nutella.

Waffles are perfect for lazy Sunday mornings and even more perfect for busy weeknights and these whole grain waffles are good for you!  I like to fry apples or make a quick blueberry syrup to go along with the waffles.

We also love these Buttermilk Oat Waffles, Whole Grain Waffles, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Waffles, and these Brown Sugar Cinnamon Waffles!

8448778017_e5da14bdfe_zLately, I have been making a double or triple batch of waffles and then we enjoy them for breakfast and snacks throughout the week. Just pop them into zip top bags in a single layer, and freeze them or refrigerate them.

How to Reheat Waffles:

Just pop waffles into the toaster or toaster oven or even in a preheated oven. They will crisp right up and be fresh and delicious.

See all of that steamy goodness when you lift the lid!  And the beauty of this KitchenAid Pro Line Waffle Baker is that it cooks 2 waffles at once!

Double the waffles for my hungry teenage boys! Yes that makes my life easier!  It tilts to coat the top and the bottom and produces Grand Belgian Waffles.  No skinny waffles here!

I have used the Waffle Baker at least once or twice a week since it took up permanent residence on my counter!  

This is the kind of appliance that deserves a name, I just haven’t picked one yet.  You should help me out with some ideas!

Typically I toast half of a waffle and spread it with Nutella.  It is soooo good.  On Monday, the kids were out of school. I was sitting at the bar, probably pinning away on Pinterest, enjoying my waffle and Nutella.  

The guys came in from feeding and Cody mentioned that whatever I was eating must be good because it was dribbled down my chin and all over my face.  Nice.

Whole Grain Waffles

Simple Whole Grain Waffles are a great breakfast for any day of the week. Filling and nutritious!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup flax meal
  • 1/3 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped pecans
  • 1 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 eggs beaten

Instructions
