Six Man Football is a big deal in our little town.  It is relatively new to our school, having started just 4 years ago. My boys have played from the beginning.  The support from the town and surrounding area is awesome.

My oldest son, Cody plays defensive end; my middle son, Tucker plays nose guard; my nephew, Garrett, plays middle linebacker; and my beautiful niece, Emily, is one of the managers for the high school team.

Now let’s get down to business with some easy tailgating food!  I have 3 great recipes for you.  First up I have  Petit Jean Sliced Ham and Pineapple Kabobs.  Food on a stick is always fun and I made a sweet little glaze to compliment the smoked ham and pineapple.

Next up are the bacon wrapped hot dogs.  Have you tried these? Holy moly!  A while back I saw something about a food truck that sold all sorts of hot dogs, one being wrapped in bacon and deep fried.  I had to try it.  Really I did.  They were good, really good.  Easy tailgating recipes would seem incomplete without hot dogs, it really doesn’t get any easier, does it?  Petit Jean Hot Dogs are not your average hot dog.  There are no fillers, they are made from quality cuts of beef and pork. ( I read the ingredients label and it listed bacon, yes bacon!)  Of course I used Petit Jean Bacon for wrapping the hot dogs.

And for the grand finale, my favorite Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts.  The Petit Jean Bacon makes these little bite-sized appetizers the best thing ever.  I make these for every party, every holiday and they are ideal for tailgating.  Sweet barbecue sauce is the best to use, you know I always use the Pine Ridge Barbecue Sauce.

Generally I bake these, but since I had the grease hot and ready from the hot dogs, I fried them this time.  The results were really the same baking or frying but it was much, much quicker to fry them.  Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts are always the first to go, as they are everyone’s favorite.

These are snacks that can be scaled down to a two-person household, too! Many thanks for developing these recipes — love that glaze on the ham kebobs, plus bacon “anything!” ;)
