Triple Berry-Banana Power Smoothie

Mornings are always busy for me, even during the summer.  I try to check emails while I drink coffee then I immediately start in on cleaning and laundry.  Next up is getting ready to feed the guys lunch.  I like to give them a lot of variety and of course fresh baked cookies.  You won’t find the same brown bag bologna sandwiches everyday in my kitchen.  Most days I find myself forgetting to eat breakfast.

If I have to pack the guys lunches and deliver them sometimes it’s twelve-thirty or one o’clock before I get around to eating lunch myself.  So, I’ve started making myself a smoothie that I can sip on while I’m cooking and doing the laundry and all of that good stuff.

My Mom is always singing the praises of flax and how good it is for you, so I thought I’d add it to my smoothie and it really made it extra filling.  I would probably put about 1/2 tablespoon of flax meal next time just for a little less texture.  You can try it out and see how you like it.  It’s extra thick, creamy and berry delicious!

What’s your go to breakfast on busy mornings?

Triple Berry-Banana Power Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup Greek yogurt vanilla or plain
  • 1/2 banana, frozen
  • 3/4 cup fresh mixed berries (I used blueberries, blackberries, strawberries)
  • 1/2 -1 tablespoon flax meal

Directions:

Add all ingredients into a blender and blend for about 30 seconds, pulse a couple of times to make sure everything is well blended.

Pour into a glass and serve with a straw.

Enjoy!

Love berry smoothies! I interchange flax with chia seeds and always add about 2 handfuls of spinach. You can’t taste and I always feel good getting some extra veggies in for the day. ;)

I definitively can use one of these power smoothie throughout the day! As you said, its convenience to take a sip while we’re busy cooking and doing laundry. My Mom introduce me to flax a few years ago and I love it, especially know it’s good for us. :) Can’t wait to blend up one of these Triple Berry-Banana Power Smoothie!
