A few weeks ago I was invited by Land O’ Lakes to attend a webinar with Ree, The Pioneer Woman to learn more about the new Butter with Olive Oil and Sea Salt. It was really fun and very interesting.
On the day of the webinar the invited bloggers were provided with a phone number to call into and a web site to log into. We could hear Ree on the phone and follow along with her slide show online.
Ree shared many of the recipes she had cooked with the new Olive Oil & Sea Salt Butter. Her Pasta Primavera looked incredible, and I was totally drooling over her panini photos. She shared an idea of creating new recipes out of one of your favorite dishes. You can use the same ingredients to create pizzas, panini, pasta or a risotto, such a great tip that I will definetly be using this summer.
There were lots of butter facts like butter was colored with marigolds in the middle ages! The point of cooking with butter is the taste, the color and the creaminess. All unmatched by other cooking oils. I am a firm believer in all things in moderation. There are days as a food blogger and mother of three hungry boys that I use pounds of butter. While I may be sporting what I refer to as my blogger-double chin, my kids are extremely active and they work hard on the ranch; therefore, they need lots of calories.
At the end of the webinar we were able to connect to an operator and ask Ree a question. There were some great questions and I got to hear some of my favorite bloggers, Sommer, Robyn, Julie, and Bev even sang for Ree, quite entertaining!
My question was if the butter has enough olive oil to raise the smoke point or if it is about the same. Becky Wahlund from the Land O’ Lakes test kitchen answered that the smoke point is slightly higher. Good to know!
It was great to be included in this webinar and now that I have had a chance to try the butter, I can say I really love it! It comes in pound packages and inside there are eight 1/4 cup sticks. How cool is that!
Of course it is so creamy spread on a piece of crusty bread, and it is fabulous melted over popcorn, and I even baked cookies with it. I use salted butter when I bake and as a matter of fact Ree admitted to the same. The cookies were great and I would use the Land O’ Lakes Olive Oil and Sea Salt Butter just as I would regular butter.
Land O’ Lakes is providing a gift for one lucky reader. This is a collection of Ree’s Cooking Essentials and I have to agree they are some of my favorite things also.
