Virtual Potluck has offered up quite a few opportunities to try new products and I am always super excited. Artisana makes a great line of nut butters, I’m talking everything way beyond my standard fare of peanut butter. Not that my love of peanut butter has changed but with the options of walnut, macadamia nut, cashew, almond, and pecan has me pretty excited.
I received the macadamia nut, cashew, and walnut butters to try. I made the best macadamia nut white chocolate chip cookies and I stirred cashew butter into my ramen noodles, made sandwiches and one of my favorites the walnut butter scones with honey-orange glaze. The perfect little breakfast bites! All of the products I tried were top notch and delicious.
I’ve never met a scone I didn’t love and these were no exception, the walnut butter added a depth of flavor that I haven’t tasted before in a scone. When I was a kid I hated walnuts, I would beg my Grandma not to put them in cookies or her famous banana bread. Now I crave them and until now I had now idea walnut butter existed.
Artisana Uses the most careful attention to detail, quality and handmade with care, our organic raw foods are crafted using a temperature controlled process that preserves the life-essential fatty acids, enzymes, vitamins and minerals. Walnut Butter Scones with Honey-Orange Glaze
adapted from King Arthur Flour 200th Anniversary Cook Book
Ingredients:
for scones:
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/3 cup Artisana Walnut Butter
for glaze:
- 2 tablespoons orange juice
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cooking Directions:
Preheat oven to 4o0°F.
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Add sour cream and walnut butter, stir together until the dough forms a ball.
Pour onto a lightly floured surface and pat to about 3/4 inch thick circle. Cut into wedges or using a small biscuit cutter cut into circles.
Place on a greased or lined baking sheet. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until lightly browned.
While scones are baking, prepare the glaze.
Whisk together all ingredients and brush over baked scones.
Serve warm or at room temperature.
Enjoy!
Miss
