Strawberry-POM Limeade

It seems we’ve had record breaking heat across the country this summer. I am quite thankful for my air conditioner and for my mostly indoor job. My husband and teenage boys spend most days outside in the heat and it is exhausting. Irrigating hay meadows, cutting, baling, hauling and stacking hay; all just a small part of summer life on a cattle ranch. I try find creative ways to reward their hard work and help them cool off. This Strawberry-Pom Limeade is a refreshing summer drink that just fits the bill. Sweet summer strawberries paired with tart limeade and kicked up with some pomegranate juice blended together for a cool, slushy consistency.

I’ve been on a strawberry-limeade kick since visiting The Sonic while traveling the south over summer break with my family. I’ve also been experimenting with pomegranate juice adding it to homemade popsicles and icy drinks.

The Pom Wonderful company touts pomegranate juice as an antioxidant superpower. It tastes so good and it’s good for you, that’s hard to beat. Believe it or not, I found the POM Wonderful site to be packed with interesting information from the health benefits to the process of extracting the juice from the fruit. Also about their 18,000 acres of pomegranate trees which must be gorgeous. I always wanted to own an orchard, but I digress.

This is the perfect summer drink for kids and adults alike and is ready in mere minutes. Give this a try next time you are looking for a tasty way to beat the heat!

Now that looks like a refreshing frosty beverage to help cool you down on a hot day. I love POM, all flavors, and your frozen strawberry pom limeade looks so pretty.

This looks really refreshing and tasty. Much better than a Slurpee or the other slushy drinks. You know, I’ve never tried POM even after hearing how good it is and it being readily available at our super market. Maybe this will be the recipe that gets me to buy it.
Has the heat wave broke by you yet? Here in NJ it broke on Monday with some rain showers and has stayed cool, though sometimes humid, since. Thank goodness

Chris, it has cooled off a little but when we are working out in it, the sun really bears down in Wyoming and it’s just hot. We are sure hoping for some rain, it is so dry here.

Oh…I love POM! It’s a little tart, so I bet it pairs beautifully with the strawberries and lime! It looks so refreshing (it’s 100+ degrees here today). I bet a splash of vodka would turn it into an amazing “adult” cocktail! :-)

I like the way you think Kim! These teenage boys drive me to needing a little more than a splash of vodka somedays, good idea!

Not only does it look cool and refreshing, I am thinking it is probably not too sweet – which is exactly what I like! I can’t handle all these high sugared smoothies you get at restaurants.

You are right Shelby, it’s not too sweet. I hate those drinks that taste like syrup!

I love POM and anything with POM in it! Yum…

Tastes good and you get your anti-oxidants – couldn’t ask for more!
