Are y’all ready for another delicious chocolate and peanut butter concoction? Well this one is definitely delicious. I adapted it from a recipe I jotted down from who knows where. The original recipe had neither peanut butter or chocolate, but I think it turned out pretty good. You know I don’t pass up an opportunity for my favorite dessert combination. Pretty easy to mix up and bake and I had all of the ingredients in my pantry. I love those kind of desserts; I just hate it when I find something I want to cook and I am missing something vital. I try to keep a pretty decently stocked pantry, since the grocery store isn’t just around the corner, but you know I’m forgetful and on occasion I run out of everything! Anyhow, these bars would be great for parties or potlucks, they are rich and satisfying.
Milk Chocolate & Peanut Butter Bars
Ingredients:
For Crust:
1/2 cup cold butter, cut into 1″ slices
1 package (18.25 oz) Milk Chocolate Cake Mix
1 egg, beaten
For Filling:
1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup peanut butter
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups powdered sugar (plus more for garnish)
1 cup milk chocolate chips
Cooking Directions:
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
For Crust:
In a large bowl, add cake mix and butter slices. Mix with a pastry blender or fork until crumbly. Add beaten egg and mix until well combined and mixture is moistened. Press into a 9″ x 13″ glass baking dish that has been sprayed with cooking spray. Set aside.
For Filling:
In a mixing bowl, add softened cream cheese and peanut butter beating with an electric mixer until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla, continue beating until well combined. Add powdered sugar about half a cup at time, until smooth and all sugar is incorporated. Stir in milk chocolate chips. Pour over crust and bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until center is set. Remove from oven and dust with powdered sugar. Allow to cool completely before slicing. Cover and store in refrigerator.
*update, these are good before but really super after they have chilled!
Enjoy!
